Kim Tan is the heir to Empire Group who has been sent to study abroad in the U.S. In reality it's a form of exile, as his elder half-brother back home schemes to take over the family business. While in the States, Kim Tan meets Cha Eun Sang, who arrived from Korea in search of her older sister. He feels himself falling for her, never realizing that she's the daughter of his family's housekeeper. Episode 1: The Heirs Episode 1
Cha Eun Sang and Yoon Chan Young grew up together, slowly developing a good relationship. However, Lee Bo Na is really unsatisfied with Eun Sang because her boyfriend, Chan Young, is unknowingly possessive of her. Eun Sang's mother, who is mute, wants to send money to her older daughter, Cha Eun Seok, in America. Eun Sang insists on going to America to pass her the money in person. She realises that her sister has been lying all this time. Choi Young Do's father is meeting with his future wife and her family, but Young Do irritates his father by being rude to Rachel Yoo. Episode 2: The Heirs Episode 2
Kim Tan takes Eun Sang back home and looks after her. Eun Sang gives the dream catcher to Kim Tan in return. The next day, they go to Kim Tan's school together, and Kim Tan gradually realizes that he is deeply attracted to Eun Sang and doesn't want to leave her. They held hands and kept smiling even when they were being chased by others. Eun Sang asks for help from Chan Young using Kim Tan's phone. Unfortunately, she is driven away by Rachel and leaves alone. Kim Tan warns Rachel not to get involved after knowing the truth. Episode 3: The Heirs Episode 3
Kim Tan stops Eun Sang from leaving and brings her along to the company shareholders' meeting. She happens to witness Kim Tan's father and brother's distaste towards him. After encountering an accident on the way back, the couple have no choice but to spend the night out and develop some romantic feelings overnight. The next day, after Chan Young picks Eun Sang up, they coincidentally get seated together with Kim Tan and Rachel in a dessert shop. Rachel's direct words create an uncomfortable and awkward atmosphere. At the airport, Eun Sang spots Rachel hugging Kim Tan tightly, seemingly reluctant to be apart from Kim Tan.
