The drama is a melodrama which depicts the story of a man, Kang Ma Roo who has been betrayed by the love of his life, Han Jae Hee. Years after the incident, Ma Roo begins to live a life of self-indulgence. He sacrificed his well being for his girlfriend only to discover that she never looked back and married another man for wealth. Thus, he sets off to take revenge. And in order to execute his revenge, he approaches Seo Eun Gi, the resilient and cold daughter of the man Jae Hee married.
Episode 1: The Innocent Man Episode 1
Kang Ma Ru is a promising third year med student. With his ailing sister needing urgent medical attention, he chooses to go to Han Jae Hee who calls him in a panic, a woman he's loved since childhood. In distress after having killed a man in self defense, he chooses to take the blame for her. After spending five years in prison, their lives have completely changed and they meet once again in a life or death situation.
Episode 2: The Innocent Man Episode 2
MaRu saves EunGi after discovering she is the daughter in law of JaeHee, his lost love. Faced with her past JaeHee, goes to find MaRu to repay her debt with gifts and money, her guilt growing as she learns how MaRu has lived since their separation. EunGi's suspicions of JaeHee and MaRu force Jae Hee to drive the dagger deeper into MaRu's heart. Before wanting to forgive and forget her, now he starts to plan his revenge. He meets EunGi on a hillside road after learning of her favorite pasttime.
Episode 3: The Innocent Man Episode 3
MaRu risks his life for EunGi after she crashes her motorbike and almost falls off a cliff, falling instead while trying to retrieve her last memory of her mother for her. He survives and her curiosity is peaked by him as she wonders why a man she doesn't know would do such a thing for her. She finds his home and follows him along as he rushes to his sister's side, EunGi's curiosity turning into attraction as she learns more about him.
Episode 4: The Innocent Man Episode 4
Jae Hee tries to figure out the relationship between Ma Ru and Eun Gi. Eun Gi tells Jae Hee that even if Ma Ru only loves her for her money, she will still love Ma Ru. President Seo mistakes Ma Ru as Eun Gi's boyfriend and invites him for dinner. He gets mad when he finds out that Ma Ru is nothing but a bartender. He asks Jae Hee to give Ma Ru a sum of money and tells him to get away from his daughter. Jae Hee asks Ma Ru about his motive on getting so close to Eun Gi. (Source: Viu)
Episode 5: The Innocent Man Episode 5
In order to stop Jae Hee from Eun Gi's mother's resort project, Eun Gi and Ma Ru flies over to Japan. However, Jae Hee learns about their plan and signs the contract before they arrive. With the help of Ma Ru, Eun Gi gets rid of the contract and cancels the deal with the buyer. Jae Hee becomes enraged and tells Eun Gi that it was her father's idea to sell the resort. Jae Hee wishes to know if Ma Ru still have feelings for her and jumps into the sea. Although Ma Ru saves her, he informs her that he will no longer love her anymore. Eun Gi falls in love with Ma Ru after their kiss. Upon reaching home, she finds her luggage waiting for her. President Seo flies into rage after Eun Gi ruins the deal. He chases her out the house and takes back her car and her credit cards. With no place to go, Eun Gi finds Ma Ru and lives with him. Eun Gi finds out about Maru's past and breaks up with him. The chairman also discovers Maru and Jae Hee's relationship, and also Jae Hee's relationship with Attorney Ahn. Jae Hee hires thugs to beat up Maru. Eun Gi is locked up in her room, but escapes to see Maru. The episode ends when Eun Gi tells Maru that she still wants to be with him
Episode 8: The Innocent Man Episode 8
Eun Gi looks for Ma Ru and overhears the conversation between Ma Ru and Jae Hee. She leaves, heartbroken after thinking that Ma Ru still loves Jae Hee. After learning that President Seo is aware of her infidelity, she comes up with a plan. She takes out evidence of President Seo's crimes and threatens him. (Source: Viu)
Episode 9: The Innocent Man Episode 9
Ma Ru finally tell Eun Gi the truth, and hurt her with the harshest words. Broken-hearted Eun Gi then finds out the death of his father which leads her to do a deadly decision, which ends up with her and Ma Ru being awfully damaged. 11 months later, Ma Ru has worse job, and living like having a death wish. Eun Gi, who had been disappeared since the accident, suddenly appear in front of Ma Ru with unexpected condition.
Episode 10: The Innocent Man Episode 10
Choco, Ma Ru's sister is in poor health and Ma Ru is constantly cheating people of their money to pay her medical fees. Choco disagrees with her brother's actions and runs away from home. She hopes that her brother will return to how he was like before. Han Jae Sik stalks Eun Gi and finds out where she lives. Jae Sik reports back to Min Young about Eun Gi's current residence. After Jae Sik demands payment from Jae Hee, she is worried that the kidnapping will be exposed. She calls the police, reporting that her brother has kidnapped her stepdaughter and is demanding for a ransom. He runs to Ma Ru to seek protection, admitting that Jae Hee had asked him to kidnap Eun Gi. Ma Ru runs off to save Eun Gi, finding her and bringing her home safely. Maru helps Eun-gi to overcome her short comings after the accident.In the process he gets more and more attached to her.He has completely forgotten his memories with Jae-hee.He wants to make Eun-gi happy in whatever way he can.

Eung-gi struggles to remember her past.Jae-hee gets suspicious of her behavior,but Maru protects her.Attorney Ahn finds out about Eun-gi's condition and informs Jae-hee about that.Also,Eun-gi finds out that Maru approached her with a motive of taking revenge from Jae-hee.
Episode 14: The Innocent Man Episode 14
Eun-gi gets a shock..she forgets everything for a while,but then becomes normal.Jae-hee sets a trap to remove her from the company but Maru and her brother blackmail her and she declares Eun-gi as the new CEO.
Episode 15: The Innocent Man Episode 15
Jae hee sets another trap for Eun-gi by calling her ex-boyfriend. Attorney Ahn sets up Maru,and he gets arrested.But later he gets released.Also in this episode it becomes more clear that Maru likes Eun-gi.Also that Jae-hee now wants Maru back.
Episode 16: The Innocent Man Episode 16
Eun-gi searches for the person who was involved in her accident.Jae-hee is all frustrated that how can someone love a person more than money.Attorney Ahn tries to control her.Jae gil finds out about Maru's illness and Maru confesses that he loves Eun-gi. At last,Eun-gi gets back her memory but she pretends she didn't.
Episode 17: The Innocent Man Episode 17
Eun Gi regains her memory and remembers why Ma Ru agreed to be with her. She keeps this from Ma Ru. On the day of their wedding, Ma Ru disappears, leaving Eun Gi all alone to face the guests. Eun Gi insists on waiting for him but he does not show up. At the same time, rumours of Jae Hee and her stepdaughter fiancé's spread like wildfire.
