Episode 4: Guardian Episode 4
Chief Zhao leads the group to find a killer who steals the faces of females. They run into a student that wants to help them solve the case. Shen Wei asks Zhao if he can help the investigation.
Episode 5: Guardian Episode 5
Chief Zhao is looking into the disappearance of a wealthy engaged couple. The Black Cloak Envoy runs into an old colleague and helps him out. The special investigations group discovers the bad guy and good guy aren’t easy to detect.
Episode 6: Guardian Episode 6
The special investigations team are looking into a strange disappearance and reappearance of a woman. Guo comforts the fiance of the missing girl surprising Old Chu. Chief Zhao asks Shen Wei for help with the case.
Episode 7: Guardian Episode 7
Chief Zhao rescues Shen Wei from a mugging and later one of the criminals turns up dead. Lin Jing figures out the murders are based on a popular web novel. After solving another case, Zhao and Shen Wei share a sweet moment talking about the case.
Episode 8: Guardian Episode 8
The Special Investigations group makes Guo an official member. Lin Jing makes a special weapon for Guo. Chief Zhao tries to get on Shen Wei’s good side by giving him some books. The Black Cloaked Envoy brings a case to the team. The artifact starts to act up.
Episode 9: Guardian Episode 9
Professor Shen Wei heads to the northwest mountains. Wang Zheng insists on going back home which appears to be in the northwest mountains. The Special Investigations team all go with in an effort to see what has caused the artifact to act up. On the way, they find Shen Wei with some students. Chief Zhao insists they join their groups.
Episode 10: Guardian Episode 10
Stranded in a remote village, the S.I. Team and Shen Wei and students stay in a strange guest house for the night. Wang Zheng tells them the story of her ancestors. Zhu Jiu stirs up trouble for the S.I. Team with some monsters. Wang Zheng drugs the group and leaves to sacrifice herself. Zhao, Guo and Old Chu go to find her. Strangely, the Black Cloaked Envoy shows up just in time to save them.
Episode 11: Guardian Episode 11
The team must rescue Wang Zheng with help of course from the Black Cloaked Envoy. They rescue Wang Zheng and Sang Zan. After Shen Wei takes a drink, Chief Zhao learns finds some very interesting clues.
Episode 12: Guardian Episode 12
Zhu Hong’s family kidnaps her and Gao. The group tries to solve a mass suicide that they believe is murder. They come across a man trying to save a little girl who was abused by her father. The group figure out who the real culprit is but will they stop the Zhu Jiu from getting the artifacts?
Episode 13: Guardian Episode 13
The little girl disrupts a wedding in a bad way. Shen Wei is the first on the scene. Chief Zhao starts an argument with Shen Wei to find out the truth of who he is. They are interrupted rescuing a reporter. Shen Wei says he has to do research and leaves. FINALLY, Chief Zhao confirms (like he didn’t already know) who is the Black Cloaked Envoy.
Episode 14: Guardian Episode 14
The reporter now is a threat to the Special Investigations group and likely Shen Wei. It turns out Gao was not sent to the group by his uncle. There is something up between Chief Zhao and his father. Shen Wei and Chief Zhao’s friendship continues to strengthen.
Episode 15: Guardian Episode 15
Guo rescues a clueless man on the street who says he needs to go to the address of the Special Investigations Unit. It turns out to be the Regent from the Underground and before he can reveal secrets about the Black Cloaked Envoy, Chief Zhao interrupts him and takes him into his office to discuss the issue privately. It appears that a very important book is lost and the Black Cloaked Envoy is very angry.
Episode 16: Guardian Episode 16
Chief Zhao and the Black Cloaked Envoy go underground to find the book. Chief Zhao’s father comes for a surprise inspection and takes over the department on a case involving strange earth movements. It is revealed how Guo was brought into the department.
Episode 17: Guardian Episode 17
Zhu Jiu is back and out to destroy the agency using a man that has a history with Chief Zhao’s father. Chief Zhao and Old Wu run from underground attackers. The Black Cloaked Envoy tries to find Chief Zhao before he is hurt or killed. Shen Wei thinks about quitting being a professor. A new case has sprung up.
Episode 18: Guardian Episode 18
Cong Bo finds a fight club but all is not as it seems. Old Chu and Guo are sent to investigate and ends up in participating in the fight club. There they find another undergrounder. Shen Wei and Chief Zhao are not far behind only to find there is a connection with Zhu Jiu.
Episode 19: Guardian Episode 19
Old Chu and Guo are taken by Zhu Jiu with the Fire undergrounder. He uses them as bait to get the artifacts from Special Investigations. Chief Zhao devises as idea to trap Zhu Jiu but he is unaware that the hostages are in danger of losing their life. The team takes a very drastic measure for the trap and it inadvertently saves Old Chu, Guo, and the fire undergrounder from certain death.
Episode 20: Guardian Episode 20
The Special Investigations Unit decides to celebrate the holiday together. Zhu Hong suspects that there is some competition for the attention of Chief Zhao. Zhu Jiu escapes one last time while Chief Zhao and Shen Wei are on their way to meet the minister. Chief Zhao has a premonition and sends Shen Wei to meet with the minister and is led with Zhu Hong to meet the boss who attacks them. At the last moment Chief Zhao is rescued by Shen Wei but something is not right.
Episode 21: Guardian Episode 21
The Special Investigations group is unsure of what to do with Chief Zhao’s blindness. Shen Wei takes him to a friend who is a doctor. There is no discernable reason for it. Chief Zhao’s father tells him to stay away from Shen Wei. Zhu Hong tells him to come to a Flea Market for demi-mortals. Perhaps they’ll find a cure there.
Episode 22: Guardian Episode 22
A strange doctor is found who might be able to fix Chief Zhao’s eyes. He catches Da Quin spying on him using dark energy. The doctor refuses to treat Chief Zhao. Shen Wei demonstrates that he’ll do anything to help Chief Zhao and the doctor relents, but there are scary side effects that cause more problems. Finally La Qian secretly emails the team with a suggested cure that involves the artifact.
Episode 23: Guardian Episode 23
Da Quin tries to get his early memories back which leads him to suspect the Dark Cloaked Envoy. He follows him and Chief Zhao as they go to the underworld to learn about a new artifact. A new monarch is being crowned. There is a betrayal in the leadership and trust between Chief Zhao and the Dark Cloaked Envoy is tested.
Episode 24: Guardian Episode 24
Strange things are happening at the hospital. It appears that the new artifact is causing a lot of issues with employees attempting suicide. Chief Zhao gets stuck in a real live video game with some devastating consequences. Shen Wei promises to tell Chief Zhao more of their shared past.
Episode 25: Guardian Episode 25
There is something changing people’s personality. The new artifact is causing mayhem in Dragon City. Soon the only people not affected on the Special Investigations team are Shen Wei and Chief Zhao as well as Lin Jing. Lin Jing develops a crush on a musician who is not all that she seems.
Episode 26: Guardian Episode 26
There is a woman who recognizes Da Qing. It turns out there is a past they share that Da Qing can’t remember. Da Qing goes back to the doctor to try to remember his past. A confrontation happens which results in Da Qing being injured and ends up remembering everything, including how his past involves Shen Wei and Chief Zhao.
Episode 27: Guardian Episode 27
Something is up with Yin Jing and Chief Zhao knows that he might not be what he believes. Chief Zhao, Shen Wei, and Da Qing break into the lab and find out what they’re doing. Shen Wei has an uncomfortable discussion with Chief Zhao’s father which leads to a falling out with Shen Wei and Chief Zhao.
Episode 28: Guardian Episode 28
There is a story behind Sha Ya and it involves a best friend turned enemy named Yu Zhu and a run in with Ye Zun and another with Chief Zhao’s father. Lin Jing made a big mistake in judgement about Sha Ya. Chief Zhao is upset by his father’s disappearance. Shen Wei gives him a pep talk.
Episode 29: Guardian Episode 29
The game is on to find the missing people including Chief Zhao’s father. Something is not quite right with the healing powers of the Black Cloaked Envoy. The last place the group needs to look is at the university. The Merit Brush was found.
Episode 30: Guardian Episode 30
The Black Cloaked Envoy takes Sha Ya and her friend back to the underworld. Chief Zhao uncovers Lin Jing’s true betrayal. Chief Zhao makes a decision that angers the entire Special Investigations team. The Black Cloaked Envoy is captured by Ye Zun. The world finds out about the Special Investigations team which causes issues.
Episode 31: Guardian Episode 31
The Special Investigations Unit is in disarray. Lin Jing is sent to headquarters to work on the experiment instead of with the team. The Black Cloaked Envoy has been taken captive by Ye Zun. Zhu Hong and Chief Zhao have an argument over her feelings. Zhu Hong is injured and locked in a dream she does not want to leave. Chief Zhao goes into her dream to bring her out. Zhu Hong says that he'll never feel about her the way he does about Shen Wei.
Episode 32: Guardian Episode 32
Old Chu is now under attack by the press. He sneaks underground with Guo. While there he loses control and scares Guo. Ye Zun is able to take advantage of his instability and something happens to Guo. Still no help for the Black Cloaked Envoy. The team can't seem to catch a break.
Episode 33: Guardian Episode 33
Both Guo and Shen Wei are injured and need rest. The nightmare demon tries his luck on Jin Ling. Old Chu uses an artifact on Guo. The Special Investigations Unit is shut down and all members are now criminals. Ye Zun shows his face but does not fool Chief Zhao.

Episode 35: Guardian Episode 35
Chief Zhao gets send back in time 10,000 years and meets a very young Shen Wei. The story of how the two met is played out…..including Da Qing. Ye Zun impersonates The Black Robe Envoy and declares war on the humans.
Episode 36: Guardian Episode 36
Lin Jing helps Guo and Ye Hun shows up at Seastar Headquarters. Ye Zun says he will call off the undergrounders army if they turn over Chief Zhao and Shen Wei to him. Guo’s uncle is taken. Chief Zhao makes a bold move by sending a message to the world. Things starting heating up for the Special Investigations team.
Episode 37: Guardian Episode 37
Casualties start piling up but the Special Investigations finds the last artifact. Zhu Hong, Chief Zhao, and Da Qin try to rescue the demi-humans but get lost in a labyrinth. A weakened Black Cloaked Envoy goes underground. With Chief Zhao’s help Zhu Hong becomes chief of the demi-humans.
Episode 38: Guardian Episode 38
Chief Zhao, Zhu Hong and Da Qing try to get the artifacts going but without the wick, they don’t work properly. The demi-humans are attacked by the professor doped up on the serum. Guo’s new power helps to calm the humans. The Black Cloaked Envoy is tortured by Ye Zun. Guo and Chief Zhao go underground.
Episode 39: Guardian Episode 39
Shen Wei makes a big sacrifice. It looks like all is lost and Chief Zhao will be killed at Ye Zun’s hands. Zhu Hong shows she’s a leader. Undergrounders and Demi-humans from the past come back to help defeat Ye Zun. Little Guo is in big trouble.
Episode 40: Guardian Episode 40
The entire Special Investigations team goes underground to help out. Its Chief Zhao’s turn to make a big sacrifice. Ye Zun learns what really happened in his childhood. Undergrounders get something they’ve never had before. The world looks a little different a year later.
