Transferring to a new school right before the national college entrance exams was not part of Xia Xiao Ju’s plan. Episode 1: A River Runs Through It Episode 1
Xia Xiaoju and her younger brother Jiashi transfer to new schools after her parents shift from their hometown. She has to make through difficult circumstances, including wearing her old school uniform and worn out shoes as she was in her final year and getting along with Jiashi. While celebrating their arrival at the new neighbourhood, Xiaoju accidentally ends up exploding firecrackers on the butt of Lu Shiyi, who also turns out to be her playful and wayward classmate. The grudge deepens when she once again trips and spills hot water on his back. Irritated, he decides to play around and bullies her. Furthermore, Xiaoju is upset by her declining grades, the opposite of her brother's, and finds it difficult to adapt to her new environment. Zhang Laoshi meets Xiaoju to discuss her grades and suggests moving back to her old school as she may find it difficult to adjust in her final year. She is more upset when she finds out that her shoes were ruined by her younger brother and is disappointed by how her parents provide the best for him while she makes sacrifices. Her father has a heart to heart talk with her after which she resolves to score well during her monthly exams. Bao Bao and Xiaoju battle to not get ranked last. Cheng Lang (whom she grows an admiration for) helps her while Shiyi helps Bao Bao. She toils for a month. During the exam, Bao Bao pleads Shiyi for the answers, but the paper lands next to Xiaoju and she is falsely accused of copying. Her mother, who believes, her gets her new uniform and shoes to appreciate her hard work. She visits the school to explain the situation, but discovers that Shiyi confessed his actions. Bao Bao is awarded zero marks for the exam. Xiaoju thanks Shiyi, but he casually ignores her. In order to defeat High School No. 14 in the Provincial Sports Meet, Lu Shiyi decides to choose Xia Xiaoju as he had noticed her speed. She declines his request and he pulls several tricks, one which accidentally leads to her walkman getting damaged. Shiyi's father is concerned about his son's grades and tries to get him to study. Cheng Lang fixes the walkman. He asks Xiaoju's opinion about the Sports Meet as requested by Shiyi, but she still refuses to participate, fearing for her grades. Shiyi tricks her into another bet involving Cheng Lang, having her send off to buy them snacks after she loses. He takes this chance to sneak into the teacher's office and retrieve his Game player, but almost gets caught as the teacher returns from his break. Xia Xiaoju decides to participate for the sports meet after realizing how much important the match was for the school. She trains hard with Lu Shiyi and the others. However, the Advisor of the school forbids them from attending it. Lu Shiyi stealthily decides to go for the games anyway. On the day of the match, he sends off Xiaoju to buy drinks, but she is tripped by the relay team of No. 14 High School. Her drinks spill on a student, but she promises to buy her a soap to help her wash the cloth. Xiaoju's ankle gets sprained, but she doesn't reveal it as she learns that her team mate Ling Ling had an upset stomach. The race is difficult, but Xiaoju persists and they win the match. Her ankle gets swollen and Shiyi scolds her for her carelessness. Cheng Lang wins in High Jump, but gives her the soap he had rewarded to give to the girl she had spilled her drinks upon. The girl happens to be Lin You from No. 2 High School and they introduce themselves. Cheng Lang and Shiyi dissolve the grudge between No. 14 and No. 1 High School. Bao, Shiyi, Xiaoju and Cheng Lang kid around, but Qiu Le Tao runs up to inform that their Advisor Teacher was waiting for them at the gates as he had come to know of their secret entry. Shiyi and Cheng Lang pick up Xiaoju and runs away along with Qiu Letao and Bao Bao.

The school assigns the class excess homework for vacation. Lu Shiyi's mother returns home and everyone's parents' start to worry about their kids' future. Xiaoju's mom takes her to a supposed 'gaokao advicer' whonwas a fraud. On Chinese New Year, Shiyi gives Xiaoju a list of majors and colleges his father had picked out for him, but which he doesn't need anymore. When Jiashu uses it as a paper plane, Xiaoju's mom stops her from scolding him, hurting her by saying that she couldn't get into those popular majors. Sad at the low hopes everyone has for her, she runs away. She meets Shiyi on the way and he takes her to watch the fireworks along with Cheng Lang. He reveals that his dream major was Medicine, even though his father had picked out a few for him. All three of them decide to go to the same University. Xiaoju reconciles with both her mom and dad. The class teacher of Senior Three bids a hearty farewell to the class. Xiaoju has a stomach ache on the way for the exam and her father accompanies her. Cheng Lang gets into an accident on his way for the exam and misses it as he helps a young girl abd father. His mother however, supports him and he attends the remaining exams. Both Lu Shiyi and Xiaoju get scores that are required to enter their desired college. They attend a gathering with their classmates where everyone who had not received the required grades resolve to try hard the next year, including Bao Bao. They each wish the best for everyone. Xiaoju and the gang surprise Cheng Lang with a trip to the sea to make him happy. She enjoys her journey immensely and uses this opportunity to watch him, ultimately getting noticed by Tao Tao. They plan to stay overnight in tents and has to earn money for it at a local fish market as Xiaoju had lost their money bag. Back at home, the mothers'rejoice as all the kids are admitted to the prestigious Jiangzhou University, even if they had missed out the major they wanted. Lu Shiyi's mother, however, is not happy. The gang go roaming about the beach and Shiyi teases Xiaoju when she tries on a hairclip. She doesn't buy it as it was expensive, but he secretly gets it for her. Tao Tao tries to get Xiaoju to admit her feelings for Cheng Lang through a game of truth or dare, but she dodges her questions. Bao Bao passionately sings a song and admits that they would forever be his best friends. Xiaoju has a stomach ache and Cheng Lang takes her to a clinic. While returning, he gets to see the sunrise as he wished for, but Shiyi and Tao Tao find that Bao Bao was missing. They chase the train which he had secretly boarded after reading a letter left by him in which he expresses that he is unable to bear the pain of bidding farewell to them. The gang returns back home in gloom. Cheng Lang beats Shiyi and gives Xiaoju a wind chime to thank her for arranging the trip. Shiyi is upset and doesn't give her the hairclip. The parents rush out to congratulate the kids for their university admissions. But, Shiyi's father chases him with a stick for choosing Medicine as his major without telling him. The students prepare to head for the University. Cheng Lang's wind chimes are broken after Jiashu accidentally pushes them off the table. Xiaoju pushes him away and her mother scolds her for it. Upset, she sets off for the University alone. Cheng Lang and Shiyi accompany her. Shiyi takes this opportunity to give her the seashell hairpin. The next day, the other room mates arrive and Xiaoju realizes that she misses her parents. Qiu Letao unexpectedly becomes her roommate. Shiyi gets Huang Jun, a rock music loving veterinary student, as his room mate. While shopping for supplies, Xiaoju and Tao Tao are rescued from an arguement by Lin You, who was majoring in Computer Science. Huang Jun and Shiyi's TV gets confiscated. Xiaoju and Tao go around to find clubs to join, running into Cheng Lang and Shiyi on the way. While choosing clubs, Shiyi argues with the Assistant Coach of the Basketball Club, Shen Duo. He accidentally throws a stunning shot while attempting to spite the club, impressing her. Their classes start of smoothly. Tao Tao attempts to help Xiaoju to invite him for her birthday and confess her feelings by taking her to the music store he worked as a part timer, but she doesn't get a chance to do so. Huang Jun meets Tao Tao there and they discover that they share a common love for music. Xiaoju refuses to go home as she was still bitter about the fight. Shiyi, Cheng Lang and Tao Tao prepare a surprise birthday party for her. However, it is interrupted after Lin You bumps and spills the beer of a group of thugs while rushing off to follow a couple. The thugs chase the entire gang as a result. Xiaoju is happy that the birthday is unforgettable either way. She returns back to her dorm and finds her mother waiting for her with her favorite foods. Tao Tao falls for Huang Jun and encourages Xiaoju to confess her feelings for Cheng Lang, creating opportunities for her. She fails everytime and daydreams during her classes. Cheng Lang offers to help Lin You and Xiaoju with Advanced Maths. Tao Tao asks her to hurry up with her confession. She gets the help of their room mate Xialiang, who lends them her books. Xiaoju decides on giving Cheng Lang a bottle full of paper stars with her feelings written on them, despite finding the idea childish. However, she ends up not giving it directly to him after he comments that these were pretty things girls liked while tutoring her in the library. While he is away for classes, Xiaoju waits for him, but he is caught up with work. Huang Jun, who was asked to rely that he wouldn't be coming back to Xiaoju, gets distracted by helping a group of girls make boards and slogans encouraging the basketball team fir their league match. He notices that Shen Duo had made several for Shiyi and she admits that she was pursuing him. Having not received the message from Huang Jun yet, Xiaoju waits outside the library building for him. After a brief angry physical altercation with Xiao Ju following Shi Yi's kick that unfortunately toppled her off the stairs, he starts to suspect his feelings for her. Xiao Ju gives one final try and stuffs the bottle of stars into Shi Yi's locker, mistaking it to be Cheng Lang's. Shi Yi believes that Xiao Ju has hidden feelings for him. Qiu Le Tao and Huang Jun start dating. On one such date, they fall of his motorcycle, causing Huang Jun to pull off from the upcoming Basketball finals. Xiao Ju tells Tao Tao that she would confess after it. The match is tough as their opponent team blocked their key players, but Lu Shi Yi manages to save the game and win the championship. Xiao Ju sneaks into the locker room once again, hugs the person who was freshening up in front of the locker from behind and confesses her feelings. She runs off after it, only to bump into Cheng Lang, who was just arriving at the door. Xiao Ju tries to fix her disastrous confession and asks Shi Yi to meet her by the library at noon. Shi Yi on the other hand, discreetly asks Cheng Lang for advice about girls' confessions and prepares to take Xiao Ju out to eat. On the bus, he carries her bag, prevents her from falling and finds her a place to sit. At the restaurant Xiao Ju tells him that she had done it on a dare and Shi Yi, although surprised, goes along with it. On the way back in the bus, he doesn't help her with the bag, lets her fall on the floor and stops her from claiming an empty seat. He is moody throughout the day, and he starts to realize that he was mad about what had happened. Huang Jun is finally discharged from the hospital and Qiu Le Tao prepares a beautiful confession for him with the help of Xiao Ju and her roommates. Huang Jun accepts it. Xiaoju chooses her song and practices hard for the Campus Singing Contest as she was determined to let Cheng Lang know her feelings. Shiyi, Letao and Huang Jun help her and Shiyi realizes that he had fallen for Xiaoju. Huang Jun promises to keep his secret. Cheng Lang asks Xiaoju what kind of gifts girls liked and she gives him a few suggestions, expecting one from him. On the day of the contest, Xiaoju finds out that the gift she had thought was for her had been for Lin You and that she was whom Cheng Lang liked. Xiaoju tells Tao Tao that Cheng Lang liked Lin You. She is terribly upset and about it and Shiyi tries to find out what had happened. Tao Tao refuses to tell Huang Jun and him the truth, but it's confirmed that the boy whom she had planned to sing the song for already liked someone else. While waiting for the bus, Xiaoju runs into Lin You and Cheng Lang. Lin You catches sight off the lady whom she had seen at Xiaoju's birthday and gets off the bus to chase her. Cheng Lang and Xiaoju follow her and they get involved in a brawl with her. Cheng Lang treats Lin You's wounds and Xiaoju gets a twisted wrist. Back at home, she over hears her parents taking about their fibancial requirements. She is unable to sleep and Shiyi, seeing this, invites her for midnight snacks. He also treats her wrist. Xiaoju gets drunk and reveals her woes to Shiyi, but doesn't tell him the name of the boy she liked. Xiaoju wakes up at Shiyi's home and he explains the situation to her. He leaves immediately as Shen Duo had requested him to join for training at the club. However, on his arrival, he finds out that she had lied about it to get him to come alone. He warns her not to fool him again. Xiaoju sees Cheng Lang waiting for Lin You at the bus stop and tells him that she won't be coming as she was accompanying her mom to finalize the divorce. She gets on the bus alone and stops at an advertisement board to look for part time jobs to support her family. Lu Shiyi joins her and decides to help her with the search. Huang Jun tries to help Shiyi's situation with Xiaoju, but he declines it, telling him that all he wants was for her to be happy and that he doesn't care whom she likes. Cheng Lang and Lin You have a heart to heart talk about their parents after she returns to the university. Huang Jun asks Tao Tao and Xiaoju to help distribute posters to audition for the position of the lead singer for his band. Xu Meng Lu, who is initially unimpressed by the remaining band members, ends up getting convinced to join after getting to know Huang Jun's guitar skills. Cheng Lang takes Xiaoju's help to choose another gift for Lin You as he was planning to confess. Xiaoju goes along with it, despite being heartbroken. Xiaoju is still upset about Cheng Lang and Lin You. Tao Tao consoles her, telling her that someone better was waiting for her. Xiaoju's father visits her to lend her some money, but she gives it back, despite not having much left. Her part-time employer doesn't give her the salary earlier as it was against the rules. At the campus, Huang Jun manages to obtain a messy classroom for his band practice and he spends the rest of the time cleaning the room up along with Tao Tao while Shiyi slips off to visit Xiaoju at the store. He helps her out and she promises to help him with his basketball practice as a thank you gesture. Lin You invites her out for dinner and Xiaoju learns that her boyfriend was Yuan Ancheng. Through a coincidence, Cheng Lang and Shiyi end up eating dinner with them. Cheng Lang is distressed and gets drunk, after which he reveals to Xiaoju and Shiyi that Lin You had turned him down. Xiaoju is unhappy for Cheng Lang and Tao Tao asks her to take this opportunity to comfort him and gain his feelings. She decides to write a letter under the pen name 'Mango Pudding', and Cheng Lang initially doesn't open it. He is even more upset after Lin You decides to quit a project they were working on together and tries to distance herself from him. He works overnight on the project alone and is out of form during his basketball practice. Xiaoju notices this. While helping Lu Shiyi with his training, she accidentally throws a ball right at his face, distracted. Shiyi gets a nosebleed and shows signs of dizziness. Xiaoju apologizes to him and he takes her out to eat. He orders extra food and packs them up for her. Cheng Lang finally replies to her letters. Shiyi pulls a few strings with the owner of the store where Xiaoju works to advance her salary. While watching the boys training for basketball, she finds out that Cheng Lang had used a huskey keychain that she had sent to him through a letter. Elated, she is lively while helping Shiyi train. Xiao Ju tells Shi Yi that she had let go of the past after which he is extremely happy. She also learns that the store owner had given her Shi Yu's money as her salary on his request. Grateful, Xiao Ju returns the money to him. While helping out at the shop, Shi Yi accidentally has his arm scratched by a hook after which he faints. Xiao Ju takes care of him and forces him to take a blood test before leaving for work. Shen Duo, who had taken him for the tests understands that he has blood phobia. Meanwhile Tao Tao starts to feel insecure after Huang Jun ignores her in favor of his band's lead singer, Xu Meng Lu. She leaves after a fight. At the library, both Xiao Ju and Cheng Lang warn Huang Jun against getting too close with other girls as he already had a girlfriend. Shi Yi arrives, but chooses to sit with Shen Duo to discuss about his phobia that he hadn't disclosed to them. Xiao Ju and Huang Jun ponder whether a budding romance is in progress between them, but Cheng Lang is dismissive about it. Huang Jun tells Shi Yi that he tested Xiao Ju. Tao Tao reveals that she had sent Cheng Lang a letter under Xiao Ju's name, asking him to meet up so as to reveal her identity. Xiao Ju and Tao Tao rush off to get the letter back and she runs into Shi Yi, who tries to explain why he hadn't sat with them at the library. Huang Jun, who had followed Tao Tao, uses a bottle of fake blood (that Shi Yi had bought to get over his blood phobia) to scare her, but Shi Yi faints again. He is forced to reveal his condition to them. Cheng Lang and Xiao Ju spent their time at library, looking for ways to cure him. Huang Jun decorates the band's classroom and apologises to Tao Tao, who readily forgives him. She reminds Xiao Ju about the meet up with Cheng Lang as her letter had been sent. Shi Yi continues to get help from Cheng Lang and Xiao Ju to cure him off his phobia. Lin You is scolded by her teacher for not submitting her homework, but Cheng Lang takes the blame and helps her complete it. As a result, he is unable to accompany Xiao Ju and Shi Yi to the Blood donation centre. Shi Yi and Xiao Ju wait before the Emergency room, but unexpectedly, there are no patients. So, Shi Yi takes Xiao Ju to the amusement park and they enjoy their time there. However, Xiao Ju leaves early as she had to meet up with Cheng Lang to reveal her identity as Mango Pudding. He doesn't come and Xiao Ju waits for a long time before Tao Tao takes her back. Cheng Lang arrives as they are leaving. He is disturbed as he had had a rather upsetting conversation with Yuan An Cheng, which made him late. Back at home, Xiao Ju forces Shi Yi to help her mother kill a chicken and he once again faints. His father, who sees this is angered and the two if them have a fight. Shi Yi's mother reveals that his father had attempted to do a surgery to cure a patient. It had failed and the patient passed away, leaving his father guilty for a long time. Shi Yi apologizes to his father and they have a heart to heart talk and they finally reconcile. The next morning, he gets a daisy plant for Xiao Ju to indirectly confess his love as well as to thank her. Letao, Xiaoju and Lin You see the poster of 'Loved Letters', a movie about hidden love. Xiaoju continues to be penpals with Cheng Lang and he finally invites her fir a treat. Shi Yi appears whilst she was writing a reply and they bicker and brawl. Shiyi notices that her pen was broken and decides to fix it. Xiaoju asks him to get her a new one if he doesn't. He deliberately takes her out to choose a pen. Xiaoju later meets Shen Duo, who asks her to invite Shiyi out on ger behalf to see 'Loved Letters'. Xiaoju notices the pen with her and thinks that Shiyi had bought it for Shen Duo as he liked her. She gives the ticket to Shiyi, but doesn't tell him about who had given it. He is ecstatic and thinks Xiaoju had invited him, casually bragging about it to Cheng Lang. Xiaoju on the other hand invites Cheng Lang out for the same movie and he accepts, thinking that she had invited him along with Shiyi. At Huang Jun's band practice, Meng Lu attempts to invite him out to eat, but is disappointed after he tells her that he was going to eat with Letao. Yuan Ancheng breaks up with Lin You all of a sudden. Shiyi goes for the movie, but he meets Shen Duo and realizes that Xiaoju had tricked him. Tao Tao declines Huang Jun's request to hang out as she had homework. He is disgruntled about it and she asks him to accompany her while she is doing it to comfort him. Shi Yi is angry with Xiao Ju and refuses to talk to her, but explains the situation with the red pen and Shen Duo. Xiao Ju asks him out for hotpot as a treat, but he mistakenly believes that she had invited him for Shen Duo and stands her up. Tao Tao asks Huang Jun to leave the library as he kept laughing and distracting everyone. He goes to practice in the band room, but meets Xu Meng Lu, who tricks him into seeing a movie together. He hides this from Tao Tao, doesn't pick up her calls and lies about playing cards at his bandmate Mu's room. But, Tao Tao finds the movie tickets. After seeing Shen Duo at the library, Shi Yi runs to Xiao Ju, who had been waiting for him for a long time, and apologizes to her and decides to get the food as a treat. Seeing that she likes it, he tells her that he could treat her again the next day, but she refuses as she was going to watch a movie with the one she likes'. He is upset that he was back to square one again and tells this to Huang Jun, who he thinks is acting guilty. Lin You skips classes as she was upset about her breakup with Yuan An Cheng and Cheng Lang finds her intensely practicing at the dance room. He comforts her and doesn't go to meet Xiao Ju for the movie. Shi Yi, who had followed Xiao Ju to find out the mysterious person's identity, tells her that she was a fool and tries to get her to leave as the movie had already finished. She storms off to find Cheng Lang and is deeply disappointed by hearing that Lin You's business had kept him from coming. Lu Shi Yi, who was with Xiao Ju, is heartbroken to learn that the one she likes is Cheng Lang. He is furious and fiercely plays basketball, hurting Cheng Lang in the process. Huang Jun notices this. Xiao Ju trips, injuring herself after she gets emotionally disturbed by seeing Cheng Lang cheer for Lin You. Shi Yi takes her to the infirmary to treat her wounds and gives her an encouraging talk, revealing that he knows why she had joined the race and why she was crying. He bandages her and Cheng Lang, who had arrived with Lin You, notices that Shi Yi had cured his blood phobia, thanks to Xiao Ju. Huang Jun drags Tao Tao away from visiting Xiao Ju. But, outside the band practice room, Xu Meng Lu purposely approaches Tao Tao and reveals that Huang Jun had indeed watched the movie with her. She angrily breaks up with him. Summer vacations start and Xiao Ju is upset after she fails her Accelerated Maths. Shi Yi invites her out to eat and they meet Cheng Lang, who asks them for a favor regarding an upcoming Programming Contest of his. Xiao Ju and Cheng Lang skirt around the truth and manage to deceive him, but he still feels that both of them are hiding a secret. Tao Tao sees Huang Jun waiting for her near her home and they have an emotional reconciliation. Xiao Ju lies that she was off to stay at Tao Tao's home for 2 days in order to have a short trip to a nearby village for an essay that she had to write for transferring her major. Shi Yi joins her and they spend their time together wonderfully. Xiao Ju begins to understand that Shi Yi was reliable and made her feel at ease. Cheng Lang and Lin You meet up with the gang to discuss his upcoming contest. They help them both win. Cheng Lang divides the prize money equally among all. Xiao Ju offers to buy Shi Yi snacks as a thank you for his help and support. Her mother finds her essay and transfer papers, leading to an argument where her mother attempts to dissuade her as they lacked money. On 1st September, 1999, the results of the transfer exams were out and Xiao Ju successfully was able to transfer to her desired department. Shiyi celebrates her success with her. The new year comes closer and Cheng Lang decides to confess his feelings to Lin You by decorating a scenic hilltop and watching the fireworks with her. He gets Shi Yi and Xiao Ju for help. Xiao Ju helps out, despite being sad and gets a flip phone while coming back. Shi Yi goes to get a gift for Xiao Ju. At her dorm room, she sees Tao Tao writing notes for Huang Jun, who was busy practicing with his band. She wakes up with a fever and is admitted to the hospital. Huang Jun doesn't pick up Xiao Ju's calls, but she unexpectedly runs into him at the hospital. He visits Tao Tao. Xiao Ju discusses her New Year plans with Shi Yi and her roommates Gui Xiao Ling and Huang Chang. They meet Chang Le, Xiao Ju's new class monitor and the idol of their department. Shi Yi takes an instant dislike to him. They see a heartbroken Tao Tao walking alone and finds out that Huang Jun had come to the hospital to visit Xu Meng Lu and not her. Huang Jun visits Le Tao to celebrate it, but she breaks up with him. Both of them spend the night with tears and regrets. He takes her to the decorated hill and wishes her a new year, comforting her. May 4, 2002 - Xiao Ju, who is about to graduate, is on her first trip as a tour guide. She narrates how Cheng Lang, Lin You, Shi Yi and herself were like rivers that never turned back, thinking to herself that they might have encountered different forms of happiness if they had done so. Her classmate Chang Le helps her reach her destination faster. Lu Shi Yi joins in for the tour, telling her that he wouldn't want to miss the opportunity. He helps her with the tour and even stays back late with her to search for two people who had gone missing. Cheng Lang invites Lin You home, but Yuan An Cheng returns to the campus. He reveals about an accident that injured his hands, preventing him from pursuing his love for piano which ultimately made him break up with her. Xiao Ju sees the two of them together, but decides to not tell Cheng Lang after a brief discussion with Tao Tao. Lin You hides about Yuan An Cheng's return, but when she doesn't come home for dinner, Cheng Lang sets out to find her and sees the two of them together. He finds her at the dance classroom and wishes her the best, asking her not to give up anything for him. Xiao Ju tries to convince her to not leave, and Lin You shares her feelings. She also tells her that she knew CL was Cheng Lang. Xiao Ju bids Lin You a tearful farewell and she leaves with Yuan An Cheng. Xiao Ju finds Shi Yi to ask him about Cheng Lang's whereabouts and he is upset. He is selected for an exchange student program to the University of Zurich. Huang Jun asks him to get Xiao Ju's opinion about it. Xiao Ju makes hotpot for Cheng Lang and he tells her that he had received an opportunity to establish his website with the help of another person at Pan Zhou. Xiao Ju is asked by her senior to take over a tour to Po Zhou as she was busy. She does not tell Shi Yi about the trip. There is news of a mud slide at Po Zhou and Shi Yi decides to leave for the place himself to look for Xiao Ju after he is unable to reach her. When the first thing she searches for is Shi Yi's hairpin in her bag, he helps her understand that she really did love Lu Shi Yi. She decides to go back and tell him the truth. Back at the boys' dorm, Shi Yi, who had decided to go abroad bids Huang Jun farewell and asks him not to tell to Xiao Ju. His parents fuss over what he needed to take back to Zurich. Shi Yi spends the rest of his days visiting his old neighbours. Xiao Ju's mother asks her to come back the day he leaves to bid him farewell, but she doesn't hear the her initial phrase. On the way back in the bus, the sea shell clip that he had given her falls and breaks. She runs off the airport to see him, but his flight departs. Her messages are unanswered as he had left his old phone behind. Xiao Ju asks his parents for his number once he comes back. She receives an email from Tao Tao in which she had attached a picture of Shi Yi and Shen Duo. Confused, she calls him as soon as she gets his number, but Shen Duo picks it up. She informs her that they were together and asked her whether he had made any attempt to contact her since his arrival at Zurich. Xiao Ju hangs up the call after hearing Shi Yi in the background. Distraught, she drinks away her worries with Tao Tao, who encourages her to confess to Shi Yi. But, Xiao Ju admits that it was too late. All of them graduate and enjoy their days together. Xiao Ju reminisces about her days at college and the friends she had met; their unexpected separation and tears. She admits that she had missed out on Shi Yi and that it was her indifference that hurt him the most. Jiang Zhou, their hometown, now has changed a lot with cars and few children out playing in the streets. Xiao Ju, Shi Yi and Cheng Lang's parents are worried about their children's future and marriage. Xiao Ju's mother asks her to come back from work to have dinner urgently. She returns home and bickers with Jia Shu, now in his final year of school. On TV, she sees Huang Jun, who had managed to become a singer-songwriter. Cheng Lang, who is successfully running an online shopping company, is invited as a guest and her family tries to set her up with him. They reminisce about their past. He tells her that Shi Yi would be returning soon and that he might have broken up with Shen Duo. He encourages her to chase him once again to leave no regrets. She says that she had already missed out the opportunity and informs him about Lin You's wedding. He asks her to congratulate Lin You on his behalf. Back at his office, he pulls out an old photograph that he had taken with Lin You and smiles. The company where Xiao Ju works gets their first guest who wanted a private tour of some spots. She is shocked to find that the client was Lu Shi Yi, but he ignores her friendly approach. She is more irritated when she is informed that he wanted to choose a location for proposing to his girlfriend. Their tour is rather agitated and Shi Yi continues to tease her, refusing to talk normally. They head for Yun Hai, the location Xiao Ju had chosen after their High School graduation. Shi Yi asks her to choose an accessory at a small store and she chooses a similar shell hairclip to the one he had bought for her. Shi Yi once again surprises her, choosing a bracelet instead as his girlfriend didn't like hairclips. While staying at a home for the night, he invites her out for a couple meal. Xiao Ju is enraged after Shi Yi jokes about her attempt to desperately revive him. She walks away and he calls after her to meet him at the beach next morning. Xiao Ju decides not to go, but she dreams about him proposing to her and asking her to not evade her feelings. In the morning, she receives the bracelet that he had selected for his girlfriend and connects the dots that she was whom he was referring to. She runs to find him the beach, but he doesn't come. While waiting for him, he calls to inform her that he wouldn't be coming as he had an emergency. Heartbroken, she decides to not talk to him. Cheng Lang calls her to inform that he couldn't attend Tao Tao's party as he was busy. He sees Lin You across the street and starts to walk towards her, but stops after seeing her foreign husband. Tao Tao welcomes all her old classmates for the celebration. Shi Yi arrives and Xiao Ju and he once again clash. Bao Bao surprises everyone with his appearance and he announces himself as the groom. Both he and Xiao Ju compete in a drinking game until they are beyond consciousness. Tao Tao gives Shi Yi Xiao Ju's room card and he takes care of her. After she kisses him in her drunken state, he confirms whether she knew who he was. He is happy after she answers his name. The next morning, Xiao Ju hurries over to put on her bridesmaid make up. Shi Yi, who was Bao Bao's best man, arrives and he asks her to control her temper to act natural. Huang Jun gets emotional and watches the wedding take place from the door. Cheng Lang and Shi Yi's friends, who had planned something, pushes Shi Yi onstage after Xiao Ju catches the bouquet thrown by Tao Tao. He confesses his feelings and proposes to marry her.
