Having lost his mother at a very young age, Tang San grew up relying on his father just as much as his father relied upon him. Meticulous and mature for his age, with extraordinary talent and wit, he was sent to Nuoding Academy at the age of sixteen to begin pursuing his dream of becoming a great soul master. There, under the tutelage of Yu Xiao Gang, he befriends an orphan by the name of Xiao Wu, and together they begin the long and difficult journey of cultivation. As time passes, the two friends draw ever closer, eventually swearing to look out for each other as siblings for life. As their power and connection grow, Yu Xiao Gang realizes they need more guidance than he can provide. Sending the pair to the Shrek Academy, Tang San and Xiao Wu join five other prodigies from various academies in their journey of cultivation. Strong in their power, the seven students become known throughout the land as the “Shrek Seven Devils”. With their fame ever-growing, the talents of the Seven are eventually noticed by a few very prominent nobles who invite them to continue their cultivation at the esteemed Tian Dou Royal Academy. Not long after accepting the invitation, the Seven Devils find themselves caught up in an imperial struggle for power between the first and fourth princes. At the same time, Tang San uncovers a long-hidden secret about his mother’s death. Episode 1: Douluo Continent Episode 1
*There is a spider in this episode. In our first episode we meet the MC TangSan, and his father TangHao. They live on the outskirts of a remote village as blacksmiths. TangSan practices hidden martial arts skills taught to him by his father. On his way into town to deliver some iron tools, he faces off against a Man Faced Demon Spider and blinds one of it's eyes. Before almost getting a fatal blow by the spider, he gets saved by SuYunTao, an officer from spirit hall. SuYunTao awakens TangSan's spirit, though he actually has two spirits, Blue Silver Grass and Clear Sky Hammer. He also has Innate Full Spirit Power. He's invited to go to an academy to train to become a spirit master. Before he leaves, his father makes him swear to never to show his Clear Sky Hammer, never tell anyone about his hidden skills, and to never join spirit hall. TangSan then sets off with the village chief to start his adventure. Both TangSan and the audience don't know at this point who TangSan's mother is, only that he did not grow up with her around. We also don't know who/what Spirit Hall is, only that his father has a bad relationship with them.
Episode 2: Douluo Continent Episode 2
In this episode TangSan arrives at Nuo Ding Spirit Academy. This is where we meet Grandmaster (YuXiaoGang), who immediately guesses based on his spirit research that TangSan has two spirits. TangSan becomes enemies with XiaoChenYu, the City Master's son. Tang San also meets XiaoWu for the first time inside the academy, and they become fast friends. WangSheng is in the same dormitory as TangSan, and they fight to be the dormitory's boss. TangSan wins after saving WangSheng from a falling lighting fixture. TangSan later finds a blacksmith shop in town and becomes an apprentice there. It's confirmed that TangSan's mother died when he was born.
Episode 3: Douluo Continent Episode 3
This episode takes place in SuoDing academy. Over the course of his first week at the academy, TangSan gets into multiple fights/arguments with XiaoChenYu because XiaoChenYu wants to go on a date with XiaoWu. TangSan outsmarts XiaoChenYu using his hidden martial arts abilities. TangSan's Blue Spirit Grass doesn't get any stronger until he contacts Grandmaster again to ask him how to improve. He starts practicing with his spirit to try to control it, but is so far unsuccessful. TangSan gives XiaoWu a sleve arrow, which is a kind of hidden weapon he crafted with his blacksmith skills. The episode ends with the City Lord being introduced as a person who abuses his power over the city's residents.
Episode 4: Douluo Continent Episode 4
XiaoChenYu becomes the student representative in SuoDing academy, and begins to openly target XiaoWu and TangSan which keeps them from attending classes. XiaoChenYu gets his first (white) spirit ring from a captured Ghost Wolf spirit beast. TangSan and Grandmaster go to the Beast Hunting Forest to get TangSan his first spirit ring. Grandmaster shows TangSan his spirit, a dog mutation spirit named LuoSanPao. XiaoWu sneaks into the forest to join them, and she has a lot of knowledge about the forest and spirit beasts. They come across a Rainbow Cat that is badly injured with it's child. While looking for herbs to try to save the cat, they get targeted by XiaoChenYu in the forest, and then the episode ends. This is the first episode where the Supreme Leader of spirit hall (BiBiDong) is mentioned. She is the most powerful spirit master on Duoluo Continent.
Episode 5: Douluo Continent Episode 5
Inside the Beast Hunting Forest, XiaoChenYu confronts XiaoWu and TangSan. Right as they are about to fight, A Datura Snake spirit beast appears and XiaoChenYu's guards face off against it. XiaoChenYu and his crew withdraw from the fight, which leaves XiaoWu, TangSan, and Grandmaster to fight the spirit beast. Using his hidden skills and daggers, TangSan defeats the Datura Snake and absorbs his first spirit ring (yellow). While absorbing the spirit ring, XiaoChenYu takes Grandmaster captive back to the academy and lays a trap for TangSan and XiaoWu. TangSan's new ability is a weak poison that inflicts anyone bound with his Blue Silver Grass spirit. Before leaving the forest, XiaoWu absorbs a spirit ring (yellow) from a small group of alive Ghost Wolves. The next day in Suo Ding academy, TangSan and XiaoWu try to release Grandmaster but fall into the trap set by XiaoChenYu, a cage that electrocutes anyone that touches it. XiaoChenYu aims to kill the three of them, so TangSan tries to force the cage bars open so they can escape, despite it electrocuting him.
Episode 6: Douluo Continent Episode 6
*This is the last episode in SuoDing Academy. After being trapped by XiaoChenYu, TangSan succeeds in bending the cage bars open, but in the process it burns his spirit away. XiaoChenYu threatens to kill the three of them, so Grandmaster uses his 2nd spirit ring ability to make a gas that knocks out XiaoChenYu and his guards. TangSan, XiaoWu, and Grandmaster escape and head towards Holy Spirit Village. Before everyone wakes up, WangSheng murders XiaoChenYu. TangSan is blamed for the murder, and the City Lord's men come to Holy Spirit Village to kill TangSan, XiaoWu, and Grandmaster. In TangSan's home, his father sets loose a Ghost Vine spirit beast, just as the City Lord's men get to the house. The Ghost Vine kills all the city lord's men, but then TangSan gets to the root of the spirit and chops it with an axe. TangSan absorbs the Ghost Vine's spirit ring (yellow) to cure his spirit's injury, with the help of XiaoWu. **We also learn that TangSan's father was a powerful spirit master in the past, and his spirit is Clear Sky Hammer. We also learn that Grandmaster was originally from the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, but had a failed spirit transformation.
Episode 7: Douluo Continent Episode 7
TangSan's father kills the City Lord, and then leaves TangSan with Grandmaster and XiaoWu. Grandmaster becomes TangSan's mentor, and TangSan and XiaoWu officially become (honorary) brother and sister. The three of them head to Suo Tuo City, then TangSan and XiaoWu enroll in Shrek Academy, the only spirit master academy that doesn't have any political or clan ties. Inside Shrek Academy, the two of them meet OuSiKe. The episode ends at the start of the academy entry exam.
Episode 8: Douluo Continent Episode 8
The entrance test for Shrek Academy starts with a fight with a seven-ring spirit sage, ZhaoWuJi. This scares all of the prospecting students away, except for TangSan, XiaoWu and ZhuZhuQing (this character gets introduced in this episode). The three that fought pass the entrance exam and join Shrek Academy. The academy is located in a village outside of SuoTuo City, and is now made up of 5 students and the Headmaster (LanDe). The students take a day to get settled in the academy and ZhuZhuQing challenges DaiMuBai to a fight, but loses. OuSiKe's dream is to be an actor in a traveling theatre group, but the Headmaster wants him to be a spirit master. HuLieNa enters the academy as an observer. TangSan and XiaoWu go to SuoTuo City to meet with Grandmaster, who is anxious about HuLieNa's connection to Spirit Hall.
Episode 9: Douluo Continent Episode 9
Grandmaster goes into Shrek Academy and meets Headmaster for the first time in many years. He then agrees to teach spirit theory at Shrek Academy, which increases Shrek Academy to two teachers, five students, and one class auditor (HuLieNa). For the first week of classes, the students learn spirit theory from Grandmaster, and TangSan continues to earn money as a blacksmith in SuoTuo City. The academy then travels to a remote village where a strange fire and black smoke has been reported. Inside the village seems ominous, and the village chief is reluctant to answer their questions. They find the house that was burnt, and look for MaHongJun, the son of the man who died in the fire.
Episode 10: Douluo Continent Episode 10
The students of Shrek Academy continue to investigate the suspicious fire in the remote village. There are many chickens in this village, but there isn't any chicken poop on the ground. HuLieNa finds MaHongJun and a figure shaped cloud of black smoke with red flame eyes. That night, HuLieNa and DaiMuBai go into an interlayer space inside the village, where the figure hides. They fight the smoke figure and are defeated. The next day, they find MaHongJun in back of the village chief's house, and determine that the black smoke figure is a spirit master. **ZhuZhuQing is revealed to be DaiMuBai's fiancee, and she came to Shrek Academy to break off their marriage.
Episode 11: Douluo Continent Episode 11
The village chief experiments on a father and son in order to create a spirit master; the father tries to protect his son from the village chief by burning the village down.
Episode 12: Douluo Continent Episode 12
Tang San risks his life while trying to convince Ma Hong Jun to stop the fire. Meanwhile, a mysterious figure is seen travelling around villages and attempting to turn normal beings into spirit fighters.
Episode 13: Douluo Continent Episode 13
After Zhu Zhu Qing overexerts herself during training, Fei Lan De asks her what her real goal is. Meanwhile, Ma Hong Jung makes small steps in controlling his fire.
Episode 14: Douluo Continent Episode 14
Xiao Wu is poisoned by Bu Le and has only half a month to live unless an antidote is found. Therefore, the teachers and students set off in search of an antidote.
Episode 15: Douluo Continent Episode 15
When the tarantula that had previously blinded Tang San returns, Yu Xiao Gang summons San Pao to protect him. Meanwhile, Yu Xiao Gang leaves the group to search for Su Yun Tao.
Episode 16: Douluo Continent Episode 16
Tang San kills the tarantula and is about to claim the spirit ring when the elders arrive to make a deal. They want the blood of the tarantula to lure in more beasts for Du Gu Yan.
Episode 17: Douluo Continent Episode 17
When Tang San and Ye Zhi Qui meet again, the latter is surprised to see the former alive. Ye Zhi Qui gives him the antidote for Xiao Wu's poison and tries to recruit Tang San into his cult.
Episode 18: Douluo Continent Episode 18
Yu Xiao Gang puts the students through their paces in order to develop their teamwork. Meanwhile, Ning Rong Rong asks Xiao Wu if she and Tang San have kissed.
Episode 19: Douluo Continent Episode 19
Yu Xiao Gang realises that Xiao Wu's power of teleportation has a major weakness. Later, he also lets Tang San know that his emotions are potentially a weakness or a strength, depending on how he uses them.
Episode 20: Douluo Continent Episode 20
Tang San tries to heal an injured Dai Wei Shi, but his pride causes him to refuse all treatment. However, he later admits that Tang San is the better strategist.
Episode 21: Douluo Continent Episode 21
Ao Si Ke has an antidote for Du Gu Yan's poison, but it doesn't work and she faints. Meanwhile, the students and masters begin a long journey to the Tian Dou Royal Academy.
Episode 22: Douluo Continent Episode 22
Tang San is threatened that if he doesn't stay in Xisi to participate in the spirit conference, Ye Zhi Qiu and his men will kill his friends.
Episode 23: Douluo Continent Episode 23
The Xiongshen team want Tang San to kill the man who accidentally killed the baby camel in order to become a member of the team and ultimately meet Tang Huo.
Episode 24: Douluo Continent Episode 24
The battle for Xisi City begins when Tang San gives the sign to shoot their secret weapon. Later, Dai Mu Bai and Tang San try to link up for a combo move.
Episode 25: Douluo Continent Episode 25
The group arrive at the Tiandou Royal Academy and meet the arrogant crown prince. Meanwhile, another prince challenges Dai Mu Bai to a fight.
Episode 26: Douluo Continent Episode 26
The students are curious to learn about the love story between Er Long and Yu Xiao Gang. Meanwhile, Hu Lie Na meets with the crown prince and tells him that Bi Bi Dong is her master.
Episode 27: Douluo Continent Episode 27
When Tang San goes to meet Ye Zhi Qiu, he is mind controlled by Shi Nian. Later, Tang San thinks he has found a way to save Du Gu Yan by using his blood to cure her.
Episode 28: Douluo Continent Episode 28
Du Gu Bo backs out of the deal as he doesn't have enough money for Tang San to enter the competition. However, he takes Tang San to a secret area in the mountains where he might be able to find a source of money.
Episode 29: Douluo Continent Episode 29
Yu Xiao Gang tells Tang San that Tang Hao was the right hand man of Qian Xun Ji. Meanwhile, the herbs work on Yu Xiao Gang who can now level up to three spirit rings.
Episode 30: Douluo Continent Episode 30
Ao Si Ke summons a spirit to help him and Ning Rong Rong flee from Grandpa Jian. Meanwhile, Yu Xiao Gang tells Tang San that the tarantula would be fitting for his fourth spirit ring.
Episode 31: Douluo Continent Episode 31
Ao Si Ke helps Ning Rong Rong defeat her opponent by leaving gunpowder on the stage. Meanwhile, Zhu Zhu Qin is already onto her third opponent.
Episode 32: Douluo Continent Episode 32
Tai Tan falls for Tang Hao's fake mission, which he set her to protect her from injury. Meanwhile, Du Gu Bo tells Tang San what the Canghui Academy want in exchange for the antidote.
Episode 33: Douluo Continent Episode 33
After an embarrassing loss, Yu Xiao Gang confronts the students with their arrogance. Meanwhile, Ning Rong Rong's father visits and tells the team that they can acquire a rare treasure if they kill someone at Wuhun City.
Episode 34: Douluo Continent Episode 34
Ao Si Ke reveals that the elder prince bribed him, but surprises everyone when he says that he didn't accept it. He asks the group if he can be allowed to fight with them again.
Episode 35: Douluo Continent Episode 35
Er Long asks Yu Xiao Gang if he's looking forward to meeting Bi Bi Dong again. Meanwhile, Ao Si Ke gifts a pair of earring he made to Ning Rong Rong.
Episode 36: Douluo Continent Episode 36
Yu Xiao Gang is surprised when Bi Bi Dong's controlling power reaches the stage where she can just point and expose Tang San's spirits. Meanwhile, Tang San uses the medallion Qian Ren Xue gave him to access Wuhun Hall's library.
Episode 37: Douluo Continent Episode 37
With the spirit fusion, Dai Mu Bai's tiger is fused with Zhu Zhu Qing's agility. Meanwhile, Tang San accepts Ye Zhu Qiu's mission to send an arrowhead to Wuhun Hall.
Episode 38: Douluo Continent Episode 38
After confirming the losing teams have been disappearing, Tang San wants to save them, even if it means going against Master Ji and the Canghui Academy.
Episode 39: Douluo Continent Episode 39
Tang Hao invites his son to join him and seek revenge for the death of Tang San's mother. Later, Tang San finds out that Master Ju might not be the traitor and considers stopping the attack.
Episode 40: Douluo Continent Episode 40
Xiao Wu and Ma Hong Jung fight against Hu Lie Na while Tang San takes on Xie Yue alone. Later, Xie Yue moves to upgrade his weapon and use all five of his spirit rings.
