During the early 20th century, China is embroiled in a brutal war with the Imperial Japanese army. In an effort to defend the northeast, the government drafts young men, but Xie Xiang disguises herself as her brother to join the military. Proving herself capable, she earns a spot at an elite military academy in Shanghai. At the academy, Xie Xiang befriends fellow recruits Gu Yan Zheng and Shen Jun San. As they train to fight, they become more determined to stop the invaders. But tensions rise as both men develop feelings for Xie Xiang. Episode 1: Arsenal Military Academy Episode 1
Following the fall of the Qing Dynasty and Xinhai Revolution, nationalism is on the rise and Arsenal Military Academy is reopen. Xie Xiang pretends to be her brother Xie Liang Chen to join the academy and honor him. Before joining the academy, Xie Xiang/Xie Liang Chen (with her friend and confidant, Tan Xiao Jun) attends the Palimo Theatre to watch Qu Man Ting. At the Palimo Theatre, Xie Liang Chen has a run in with both Qu Man Ting and Gu Yan Zhen. After attempting to abduct Qu Man Ting, Gu Yan Zhen, — son of high ranking minister and military connected family — is jailed with Xie Liang Chen (after they are confused as being friends).
Episode 2: Arsenal Military Academy Episode 2
Gu Yan Zhen is sent to the Arsenal Military Academy where he again meets Xie Liang Chen (who has become friends with the simple country bumpkin, Huang Song). The Arsenal Academy turns out to be the place where sons of all the influential Chinese families are sent — including the mysterious Shen Junshan.
Episode 3: Arsenal Military Academy Episode 3
Gu Yan Zhen and Xie Liang Chen are allocated to the same dorm room. After Yan Zhen covers for Liang Chen, they slowly start forming a friendship. Together, Liang Chen, Huang Song and Yan Zhen go through the tough training associated with attending the academy. Yan Zhen develops the reputation of being somewhat of madman, while Junshan becomes the standout student.
Episode 4: Arsenal Military Academy Episode 4
Xie Xiang (as herself and in a wig) attends a political dinner party hosted by the Shan family with her father. At the party, Qu Manting rejects Shen Tingbai (Jun Shan’s older brother) for the 50th time, the Japanese crash the party. Xie Xiang meets Junshan but manages to avoid getting caught by smearing her face with cake. While running away she and Gu Yan Zhen come face to face. After which, Yan Zhen finally figures out that Liang Chen is in fact a girl.
Episode 5: Arsenal Military Academy Episode 5
The cadets are sent on a forest mission — which gets intercepted by the Japanese — Liang Chen and Junshan are trapped together overnight as are Manting and Gu Yan Zheng.
Episode 6: Arsenal Military Academy Episode 6
Liang Chen and Junshan escape from the forest with Junshan carrying LC on his back while Manting carries an unconscious Gu Yan Zhen. During a weekend break, Huang Song and Liang Chen went to the bar in town where Liang Chen’s cover as a boy was almost blown. LC in order to protect her identity says that she has a twin sister by the name of Xie Xiang who was also studying nearby while Yan Zhen smirks already having figured out her identity.
Episode 7: Arsenal Military Academy Episode 7
The students are sent on another mission where Junshan saves Liang Chen from fainting. Yan Zhen also helps her get her badge to signify the success of the mission but suspects that he was the one who stole it in the first place. Shen Tingbai opened a new cotton factory which was burned by Mr. Sato killing seven workers and a child. The perpetrators were caught and brought to the academy. Yan Zhen, Liang cheng, Huang Song and Ji Jin planned and carried out a torture for the perpetrators. They pelted the Yakuza with itching powder and then secretly put a diarrhea-inducing tablet to their soup.
