It tells the story of Bong Pil, an unemployed man who mooches off his parents while pretending to study for the civil service exam. Bong Pil time travels into the past through a manhole in an effort to stop the wedding of his lifelong crush, Soo Jin, set to happen one week into the future.
Episode 1: Manhole Episode 1
Pil and Soo Jin have been friends for 28 years. And Pil has been in love with her for 28 years. He’s about to lose the love of his life to a stranger, Jae Hyun. One day, he stumbles upon a manhole that lets him travel back in time. (Source: Kocowa)
Episode 2: Manhole Episode 2
Pil realizes he has gone back in time when he experiences the repetitive school life he had in high school. He decides that this situation may not be all that bad because he can try to alter the future by acting differently in the past. Pil’s back to the year 2017 and realizes his past changed not only his life but everyone around him. However, there’s one thing that hasn’t changed and that’s Soo Jin’s wedding. Episode 4: Manhole Episode 4
Pil wakes up on the beach in the summer after high school, a time he spent wasted after getting rejected from college. Su Jin and the rest of the family come to him. In reality, Su Jin ends up dating an unfamiliar man. In order to prevent this from happening, Pil begins to prepare. However, one of his friends ends up getting in the way. (Source: Kocowa)
Episode 5: Manhole Episode 5
Pil eventually stops present Soo Jin from marrying Jae Hyun. However, he is stunned to find out that his members are all separated. And he meets his father’s soul and realizes that he is actually dead. (Source: Kocowa)
Episode 6: Manhole Episode 6
Soo Jin figures out that Seok Tae has been possessed by Pil's spirit, and the two of them spend time talking and reminiscing with one another. However, there is a problem with Pil's body, and the doctors say that he may not make it through the night. If Pil doesn't make it through the manhole by midnight, he will die with his body. Episode 7: Manhole Episode 7
Pil goes back to the past, and it’s a day before he goes to fulfill his military service duty. He decides to confess his love toward Soo Jin and takes her out on a date. But seeing this reminds Jin Sook of the feeling she’s kept hidden toward Pil. (Source: Kocowa)
Episode 8: Manhole Episode 8
It's the day that Jae Hyun proposes to Soo Jin. Pil is disappointed at Soo Jin's cold behaviour towards her and goes to have drinks with Jin Sook. He ends up falling asleep at Jin Sook's loft. Jin Sook confesses her feelings to Pil, and he finds out that that she had been the one trying to ruin Pil and Soo Jin's relationship. (Source: Kocowa)
Episode 9: Manhole Episode 9
Pil returns to the past. He tries to find the letters that Jin Sook took. Jae Hyun approaches Soo Jin who was out for a photoshoot. Meanwhile, Jin Sook gets caught for stealing Pil's letter to Soo JIn. Pil feels conflicted over the fact that Jin Sook's feelings towards him haven't changed despite the fact that he had been going back and forth in time. (Source: Kocowa)
Episode 10: Manhole Episode 10
Jin Sook is busy with preparations for her wedding. She and Pil go around looking at various things they need for their newlywed home. Soo Jin prepares to leave to study abroad in the UK. Soo Jin brings her feelings towards Pil to a close as she photographs their wedding pictures. Pil is in despair as he is stuck in a situation where he can't hurt Jin Sook nor can he go after Soo Jin. Episode 11: Manhole Episode 11
Pil becomes a police officer. He finds out that Soon Tae and Jin Sook are dating each other, and Soo Jin and Jae Hyun are enjoying their honeymoon phase. Meanwhile, Jae Hyun's ex-girlfriend, Young Ju, continues to obsess over Jae Hyun and follows him around. Since he is still not with Soo Jin, Pil heads over to the manhole once again. (Source: Kocowa)
Episode 12: Manhole Episode 12
Pil is at a loss when he finds out that the manhole has been covered up. He asks Seok Tae to open up the manhole again. Pil feels frustrated as he's stuck in time and can't do anything about Soo Jin. Meanwhile, Young Ju approaches Soo Jin while pretending like it's a chance encounter. Jae Hyun begins to suspect Soo Jin and Pil and begins to follow them. (Source: Kocowa)
Episode 13: Manhole Episode 13
Goo Gil gets assaulted and ends up in the hospital. Pil is determined to catch the criminal. He finds evidence that the criminal has a scar on his wrist. As a result, he accuses Jae Hyun of being the culprit. Meanwhile, Jae Hyun uses his and Soo Jin's wedding anniversary as an excuse to leave the country. Episode 14: Manhole Episode 14
Soo Jin asks for Pil's help. On her way to meet him, she gets into an accident. Pil begins to dig into the manhole to save Soo Jin, who is unconscious. Seok Tae and the others join him in digging so that they can help Pil travel time and help Soo Jin. Meanwhile, Jae Hyun hides the fact that he was the one who hit her and stays by her side. Episode 15: Manhole Episode 15
Pil explains to Soo Jin that they had travelled time through the manhole. He comforts her, and she realizes Pil's sincerity when he told her that he will always protect her. Meanwhile, the police find out that Jae Hyun had been behind all the random attacks and go after him. Soo Jin tells him to turn himself in, but he disappears with Soo Jin. (Source: Kocowa)
Episode 16: Manhole Episode 16
Pil goes to where Jae Hyun took Soo Jin and tries to rescue her. Jae Hyun and Pil get into a fight. While fighting, Jae Hyun stabs Pil with a knife. While Pil is fighting for his life, Soo Jin gets sucked into the manhole. She returns to the moment where she gets married to Jae Hyun. Upon realizing this, she goes to find Pil.(Source: Kocowa)
