Jinta, a hikikomori high school student in Chichibu, Saitama, Japan, is surprised when his deceased childhood friend Meiko appears before him one summer day. She’s dressed as she was when she died, but now looks slightly taller. Meiko, unable to remember her wish, has returned as a ghost to have it granted. To help, Jinta reunites with his friends Atsumu, Naruko, Chiriko, and Tetsudo for the first time in seven years. However, Jinta soon realizes he is the only one who can see Meiko.
