The idealistic Choi In Ha has her work cut out for her when she becomes a broadcast reporter, especially when she suffers from a condition known as “Pinocchio syndrome,” which makes her break out into hiccups whenever she tells a lie. Her rookie colleagues include Choi Dal Po, whose shabby appearance masks his true eloquence and sharp memory; Seo Bum Jo, a wealthy heir who has had everything handed to him in life; and Yoon Yoo Rae, whose fangirl knowledge comes in handy in covering the news. Episode 1: Pinocchio Episode 1

Choi Dal Po, who was formerly called Ki Ha Myung, had a father who was a firefighter who got lost in a fire-fighting mission and was faulted for the mishap. A reporter, Song Cha Ok, accuses Ha Myung's father of being responsible for the fire accident, which is in fact, inconsistent with the facts. Due to the irresponsible report, Ha Myung's mother is devastated and jumps into the sea with her son. Ha Myung is later saved by Choi In Ha's family and becomes In Ha's uncle, changing his name to Dal Po. However, he unexpectedly finds out that In Ha is the daughter of his enemy, Song Cha Ok. Ahn Chan Soo knows that In Ha needs a bike, so he gives his old bike to In Ha. He is planning to confess his love to In Ha when he wins the competition. In school, Dal Po is known to be bad in his studies but he defeats Chan Soo, the most talented student in school and wins the competition unexpectedly. Everyone in school suspects that Dal Po cheated in the competition. Only In Ha believes that Dal Po did not do that. In order to get in touch with her mother, In Ha takes part in the TV station's interview. However, she finds out that her mother, Cha Ok, happens to be her interviewer. At the interview, Cha Ok makes trouble for In Ha on purpose. In Ha fails the interview. In Ha leaves the TV station for home. She packs up and leaves without saying goodbye. Dal Po's heart is torn with anxiety. He goes to every street to find her. Suddenly, he finds In Ha at the top of a tall building, looking like she is about to commit suicide. (Source: Viu)

Dal Po encourages In Ha to forget about the failure of the last interview and look forward to a better future. In Ha feels better. At the same time, In Ha's father realises Dal Po has feelings for In Ha. But he hopes that she stays away from Dal Po. Dal Po and In Ha are given a chance to go for an interview for a media reporter position. However, In Ha hiccups when she tells lies. She cannot report on something she does not believe in. Dal Po finds out about his father's death, and he is overwhelmed with grief. When he goes to collect his father's body, he finds that his elder brother has already collected it. The TV station that Cha Ok is working for is involved in a crisis. They feel that the image of integrity will help the situation. Unable to tell lies, In Ha is deemed to be the best person for the job. Finally, In Ha agrees to work for her mother's TV station. After Dal Po becomes an intern for YGN TV station, he and his partner Yoon Yoo Rea are sent to the police station to wait for breaking news. When he arrives, he finds out that In Ha is already there. He knows that In Ha has been in her mother's TV station as an intern reporter. The temporary residence at the police station for the reporters is in poor condition. They have been there for 2 days, and there are still no results. Later, MSC reports on why the female overweight wants to lose weight badly and proves that Dal Po's report is wrong. Dal Po is upset about his false report. He loses his enthusiasm for being a reporter and wants to quit the job. In ha falls sick from waiting in the police station for a long period of time. Dal Po sends her to the hospital. Dal Po comes across his brother Ki Jae Myung, whom he has been out of touch with for years. But he does not tell his brother who he is. On a snowy night, Dal Po feels that he cannot hide his love for In Ha anymore. He kisses her under the snow. In Ha is asked to film the scene of passengers slipping and falling on the frozen ground. However, In Ha does not catch people falling, which delays the filming. Cha Ok tries to dismiss In Ha because of this, but In Ha finally overcomes herself and finishes the filming. The news of Jae Myung's heroic act of saving a little boy from the accident is reported by all the TV stations. His life stories and family background are dug out as well. Due to these reports, his father's name is finally cleared. In Ha watches the news of her mother reporting the fire accident at the time, and she realises how cruel her mother was to Jae Myung's family. She recognises the shoe which Jae Myung's younger brother left is the same as the one that has been kept neatly by Dal Po. She suspects that Dal Po is Jae Myung's younger brother. (Source: Viu)

After finding out about Dal Po's complex background, In Ha realises it was what her mother did and said in that report that ruined Dal Po's family. In one of Cha Ok's lectures, In Ha points out that it was her mother's false report that caused Jae Myung's family to end up in a tragedy. However, Cha Ok insists she did not do anything wrong in that report years ago. To take revenge on Cha Ok, Jae Myung tails In Ha and tries to kidnap her. However, Dal Po has an indelible enmity against In Ha's mother due to the incident with his father. In order to get Dal Po out of a dilemma, In Ha decides to break up with Dal Po. Dal Po suggests taking revenge on his brother, but Jae Myung must confess his crime to the police. Faced with the evidence, she has to confess to her misconduct. According to the materials given by Park Rosa, Cha Ok reports an arson case in the city, which makes Chan Soo the suspect in the arson case. A killer with a gun bursts into the TV station to find Dal Po. Dal Po fights with the killer and hits him to the floor. The killer breaks away from Dal Po and goes to MSC to find In Ha. Dal Po arrives and saves her. However, he gets injured during the fight with the killer and has to stay at In Ha's home. After much struggle, Cha Ok decides to prove Chan Soo's innocence. She decides to launch a press conference and explain that Chan Soo was on patrol and that he did not set the fire. Cha Ok launches a press conference. In the conference, she confesses to the public what she did and proves Chan Soo's innocence. President Park persuades Rosa to apologise to Chan Soo. But she strongly disagrees with giving an apology. President Park used the money to persuade Chan Soo to compromise. Dal Po hears the news, and he comes and stops President Park. The killer who attacked Dal Po is captured. Beom Jo is afraid that his mother will be put in jail because of her instigation of crime. So, he takes the blame for his mother.
