A comedy drama about a rock band that takes up farming as an escape route. Lee Min Ki is a genius rocker, as well as leader, vocalist, and guitarist of a rock band called Ex-So (Excellent Souls), that he founded together with drummer Han Ki Joon. The cynical Kang Hyeok is the keyboardist of the band, but also a medical school student who is from a family of doctors for many generations. The two will be involved in a love triangle with the lead female. Meanwhile, Yoo Han Cheol is the bass guitarist.
Episode 1: Modern Farmer Episode 1
Min Ki becomes depressed after realizing he is unable to sell the 8 acres of land he inherited from his grandmother for the right amount of money. But after seeing an article on how cabbage prices rise and fall every 2 years, he decides to harvest 100,000 cabbages in order to make $1 million. (Source: Kocowa)

Han Cheol falls in love at first sight with Su Yeon, the girl who came to Hadurok-ri to do volunteer work by painting murals, and Ki Jun is mistaken for an illegal alien while trying to buy cabbage seeds at the market. A village meeting is held for Sang Deuk’s upcoming blind date and his mother asks for help from Min Ki’s group so that it goes well. After losing their main buyer, Yun Hui worries about how to sell their vegetables, until Min Ki boasts about how he can sell them. They head to a bar in Hongdae where they used to perform. Min Ki ends up having to perform at a live bar while trying to sell spinach, impressing Yun Hui. While on the way back to Hadurok-ri, Yun Hui suddenly has an upset stomach in addition to a hurt ankle. Min Ki carries her around while looking for a bathroom, and runs into Yuna. (Source: Kocowa)

Hadurok-ri’s crops have been burglarized. The villagers take turns going on night watch while Han Cheol worries about Su Yeon, who is still digging for sweet potatoes. Meanwhile, Min Ki tries to catch the burglars, but is hit in the head and falls unconscious. (Source: Kocowa)

After Man Gu and Sang Deuk get into a car accident, Yun Hui and Min Ki take their place in the relay. With still unresolved issues, they bicker throughout the race. Meanwhile, Man Gu feels hurt after finding out his son Min Guk is embarrassed because his father looks too old. Yun Hui hurts her back while moving boxes. While the villagers are out at the market, Yun Hui feels uncomfortable receiving help from Yuna, whom Min Ki brought over. After confessing to Mi Yeong that he wants to start over with her, Sang Deuk boasts that he will gain his mother’s blessing. But his mother keeps having nightmares of them marrying, preventing Sang Deuk from telling her. Meanwhile, Yun Hui finds out In Gi has a large apple supply leftover, and suggests that they audition to find out who can perform at the singing contest to help advertise the apples. (Source: Kocowa)
Episode 14: Modern Farmer Episode 14
Ki Jun’s mother comes to the village for her son’s birthday and the band members fool her into thinking Ki Jun is at a student hostel, but that plan fails because of Sun Bun. Meanwhile, after Yun Hui sees her son Min Ho’s drawing of Min Ki as a father figure, she tells Min Ki not to treat her family nicely anymore since he will eventually leave anyway. (Source: Kocowa)

The 4-man band are in danger of having their cabbage patch wasted after the sharp drop in cabbage prices. But the band members are determined to sell them by going to Seoul. While Min Ki’s band thinks about whether to give up on the album after being unable to sell the cabbages, Sang Eun tells them about how their carp video became viral and suggests that they record a music video. Su Yeon finds out Han Cheol only has a limited number of days left to live, so they go on a date to do the things on Han Cheol’s bucket list.
